Simulacra of an Foretold Escape

I wonder if Mexico is being invented by drunk politicians on a whorehouse, not as a noir mystery novel anymore but closer to a Dada pamphlet. Did Peña Nieto really measured the impact of loosing a nation this way?  And if he didn't, then this is a real tragedy. A complete loss of legitimacy runs this country. Being mocked by Taiwan only means coming to the end of a rope that has been loose for a while now.

But really, how can you avoid laughing at this? Cell phone on the bed, inconsistencies by the official version about his looks... To me, someone who likes good plots, these mess-ups only represent a lack of care on the story itself, it means: I don't think you're intelligent enough. You people liked El Chavo del Ocho, so we can tell you a story and you will eat that too.

But he does have hair on the video?
Souper douper surveillance for the villain on the streets, impressing!

There were signs of course, hunger strikes, people visiting him, this was The Chronicle of a Foretold Escape. Fear is what runs this country, either from drug dealers or politicians in charge of federal and military forces. Who would risk their life for any of those forces? As a prisoner there's not much to do but follow what you're told. As a guardian, listening to noises at night, would you question your superiors at the risk of loosing your job or getting killed just for asking? As a neighbour of the people surrounding the prison, would you denounce anything, when it's clear these people knew what they were doing? And for whom? Word of mouth is powerful.

Impunity is exerted and reinforced by two definite powers in Mexico, the law and the cartel. Squeezed in between are us, people that don't want to live like this. That are terribly sad our beating heart of the nation is being ripped apart, like sacrifices on a pyramid, rolling down the steps of our cultural constructions.

And of course, there are people celebrating somewhere. With corridos and parties, The Robin Hood of the people of Sinaloa is free, where is he? God only knows, go the lyrics of these songs.
