Paul Muriat, La Bikina
There are around one hundred and eighty museums in Mexico City. For the past four days I have been incredibly fortunate to be part of his event. In each and every venue, many warm fellow Mexicans lavished everyone in savoury dishes, beautiful sights and intense colour.
"What an extravaganza" I heard someone say, and truly it was so. Challenging a tight schedule as we were escorted by police patrols to protect us from a hard core football soccer match, swimming through Ayotzinapa marches on the street, chatting through traffic jams and bureaucratic processes, the directors of Art Museums from Canada, the US and Latin America seemed really happy.
I wonder why we Mexicans seem to forget about our own value, the profound roots from a heritage we give for granted and the contrasting yet creative diversity of realities. We seem blind when it comes to comparing ourselves to other cultures while really, there's absolutely nothing to feel less about.
