Abba, Under Attack

As I think about these past few days, I consider what happened in Oaxaca no longer an issue of Education Reforms but complete weariness of a system that keeps exerting criminality and "fantastic historical truths" about their actions.

When asked about gunshots, the army rolled up their sleeves and said: "What gunshots? They were firecrackers..." When asked about the army killing civilians, they cleared they throat and said: "We didn't have guns... Just sticks...."

"Really?" Replied the journalists, "there are pictures that prove what you said is a lie..." A small pause from the Army that looked briefly at the government officials. "Oh yeah, those? Those are false." "But sir, they're from AP..." said another journalist from the back of the group. "Next question", replied the Armed Force of the Law.

Finally, when asked about the whole incident, the government just created a larger fiction: "We were ambushed."

But do not fret Mexicans! Peña Nieto is really sad and worried about the events his army intended to make a statement about and 24 hours later issued instructions to make it look like he was protecting it's citizens.

I guess we didn't believe him:
"I'm sorry for the loss of human lives,
my solidarity with their families"
Nonetheless, some signs seem unusual, today the Chetumal Congress was taken over by some demonstrators. In a message by Quintana Roo's new governor Carlos Joaquín González, he requested the MP's to respect the laws and stick to the interests of the people and not to the old and corrupted ones. Inside the Congress, there were deaf ears approving laws against these principles until people broke in. "We are fed up!" they kept shouting. "Enough!" they cried.

Back to #Oaxaca, nine people died. It hurts me deeply to look at the barbaric ways our government has chosen to "award teachers" (with their death) and pretend democracy. At the cost of loosing our flag, today it seems less green (due to land expropriation, given to public and private interests) and more red as the blood stains whatever is left of the clean, optimistic, white hope.
