Shotgun Temple, Robert Tannen

"on Bayou Road, an ancient street, once a footpath for Native Americans, in one of the city's oldest neighborhoods [...] I made the sculpture, called the "Shotgun Temple", in 1980. [...] The Shotgun Temple was placed there with the agreement of neighborhood members and the Park and Parkways Department. The Verlaine foundation of New Orleans participated in the original cost of the project. Neighborhood members of the Rastafarian community have used the structure since 1988 for community gatherings and worship."
