Popular Eroticism is curated by Juan Rafael Coronel Rivera, who assembled a selection of 867 pieces of popular erotica developed between the Mesoamerican classic era and today, from the collection of the National Museum of Popular Culture, and other private and institutional collections as the National Institute of Anthropology and History, the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples, the Museo Soumaya Carlos Slim Foundation, the Rafael Coronel Zacatecas Institute of Museum and Cultural Corner Toy Museum Collection Angélica Tijerina Popular Mexicano".
"Pre-Hispanic pieces as phallic and fertility symbols, sacred representations as allegories of passion and sin will be presented. Similarly indigenous folk art will be exhibited as personifications of the idyllic; and souvenirs from travels in Mexico, translated into mugs, t-shirts and keychains. During this tour, different forms of representation of eroticism and nudity, ornaments, utensils, toys, arts and sports like wrestling will be reviewed".
