The Five Peso Cart

There's an internal "random" architecture amongst improvised Mexican structures that seems to work in the brink of chaos. It's like we don't have all the original parts but we have been able to keep the system working against all predictions. Where the original part was a German spring, we use some elastics, where there was a high end electric device, we managed to set a car battery to keep it going.

To me, the five peso cart embodies everything that's informal. By definition informal is not according to the prescribed way or matter but informal is also casual, friendly and laid back. When I see this cart there's something ingenious, colorful and humorous about it. I believe it looks as if it was about to collapse and my fascination resides in this defiance towards vulnerability.
