Aaron Copland, Appalachian Spring
Sleepy thoughts
taken away by the gentle breeze
small squirrel,
now friend,
munches on some almonds.
Colorful sails
inhale or exhale
moving to the whims
of the wind.
Soaking my body
in Vitamin D
I take one last look at a duck
jumping off the ledge and into the water.
Ticking minutes of plenitude
amongst the laughter of friends
leaving crumbles of past meals behind
and a pleasant hunger for more.
